Alum House takes its name from when it was built in 1693 to process Alum; built from local dressed sandstone and sympathetically refurbished retaining its charm with wooden beams, open fires and offering two ground floor, individually styled en-suite rooms, from where you can explore the many attractions within The North York Moors National Park and beyond.

Stables is a ground floor bedroom with views overlooking the guest garden and to the sea, so named to reflect when the property was used to house pit ponies during the mining of iron ore. A large room decorated in tones of warm sage greens , leather furnishings and a log burning fire. French doors lead to a private tiered terrace with seating where you can relax and unwind with a freshly brewed tea or coffee from the well stocked hospitality tray. The en-suite bathroom has a deep soak bath and separate shower. Breakfast is served in the comfort of your room so you can really make the most of being on holiday. This room can be arranged as two single beds having the benefit of luxury zip and link beds.

Alum, a ground floor room, named from when the property was built to process alum and is situated in the oldest part of the house and decorated in romantic whisper grey & jasper gold with crisp linens. French doors lead onto a large tiered private terrace and garden with private hot tub as well as bespoke patio furniture made by the local Blacksmiths at Egton. A super king size bed beckons you to a restful sleep after a day exploring the beautiful countryside. The en-suite has a large rain shower and a large rain sink. Breakfast is served in the comfort of your own room so you can truly relax and unwind whilst on holiday.
Your private hot tub is emptied, sanitised and re-filled for each guest stay. We check the chemical balance of your hot tub each day of your stay and sanitise accordingly, we supply towels for the hot tub.
